Description
The UNI-T UT685B KIT is a handheld TDR cable tester designed for network communication maintenance, structured cabling installation, and wiring troubleshooting. It uses Time Domain Reflectometry to measure cable length and identify the approximate location of cable faults.
The pictured kit combines the UT685B main tester with the UT683R wire tracker receiver, giving technicians both cable diagnostic and wire-tracing functionality. UNI-T specifies support for twisted-pair cables including UTP, FTP and SSTP, as well as 50Ω, 75Ω and 93Ω coaxial cables.
How It Works
Connect the cable to the appropriate test interface and select the required testing mode. The TDR function measures cable length and can identify the distance to an open or other wiring fault. The wire-mapping function displays the conductor sequence and helps identify wiring problems such as shorts, opens, and crossed pairs.
The tester can also detect PoE presence and supported PoE standards, check Ethernet port connectivity, and flash a connected network switch port for identification. The included UT683R receiver assists with locating and tracing cables in bundles or installations.
